I have been working for Dorset Youth Association since 2015 as a Family Link Worker. Being a Family Link Worker allows me to work one on one with families and help them address issues that are personal to them and to help them to become in control and happy in their family life and home.

Prior to working for the Association I studied Speech, Language and Communication Science (BSc Hons) at Portsmouth University after working as a Nanny in France which has given me direct experience when working with families. My desire to work with families drove me to this role as it allows you to help the family become the best they can be, with the added help they need. I have carried out training in my role in ‘Intense Support when Working with Families with Complex Needs” Level 4. This has helped develop my understanding and skills when working with families with complex needs. Being a mum to two young children has also widened my experience, showing me first-hand how family life is a balance and sometimes a struggle but should always involve fun, laughter, love and understanding.

“A family in harmony will prosper in everything” – Chinese proverb This quote is my goal when working with a family as I believe it is so important. Everyone needs to work together, not just professionals but family and support network to create a harmonious and well-functioning structure of support.
