Since 1943, Dorset Youth Association (DYA) has been working to inspire young people to achieve their personal goals, whatever that may be.
Through support with youth clubs and groups, DYA have provided much needed activities, from Kayaking to Mountain Leadership and from Non-contact Boxing to Slacklining. DYA have provided a range of activities to stimulate and develop skills, providing a positive focus on the safety, health and wellbeing of young people.
With the rising costs of living, lack of affordable housing and few major employers within Dorset, DYA has been empowering young people to broaden their employability chances through skills training and achieving nationally recognised qualifications.
It is acknowledged that the future of young people is defined by their health, both physical and mental, and their emotional wellbeing. Youth-led projects working on improving self-confidence, self-esteem and communication skills are known to be a stepping stone for success. And through sport and fitness we have educated in healthy eating, physical fitness and weigh management.
The impact we have made can be seen in our successes
Our current projects and their impact is shown below.
