Successful Fundraising

Expand

Our work relies on your fundraising efforts, energy and passion. Whether you want to run a marathon, canoe across the English Channel, shave your beard, hold a bake sale at work, or celebrate that BIG Birthday we are here to support your efforts.

Your fundraising efforts will help to ensure that we are here to help young people this year and for many years to come.

Run a Marathon

In 2015 Gideon Daly one of Dorset Youth Association's Trustees entered the Bournemouth Marathon, all of the training was worth it as he completed it with a very respectable time of 4 hours 12 mins. He also ran in the Bournemouth Half Marathon in 2014.

Gideon raised £665.56, which contributed to the running costs of Routes Young People’s Advice Centre and enabled us to support  190 vulnerable young people when they plucked up the courage to ask for our help.

In 2014 Lee Rhodes ran in the Bournemouth Half Marathon to raise money for Dorset Youth Association.

Lee said “I know that young people have had a difficult time over the past few years and so, I wanted to do something for a local organisation that could make a difference to young people’s lives in my community.  I have never run a half marathon before but I hope to be able to complete the course in a respectable time and raise funds for the Dorset Youth Association on the way.  ”

Dave Thompson, Director of Dorset Youth Association said “We are delighted that Lee will be running for us, to help to finance some of our vital work in Dorchester as more and more young people are struggling and asking for our help.’

Lee raised £617.07 for Dorset Youth Association.

Canoe across the English Channel

In 2013 David wanted to help DYA celebrate its 70th Anniversary.  After months of training and planning David left Cherbourg France in his Sea Kayak to paddle 60 miles across the busiest shipping land in the world to reach Swanage. He raised £2,975.04 for DYA and is planning his next exciting venture.

Swimming

In 2011, Tallulah Chalstrey and friend Olivia Cregg took on a five mile swim from Portland to Weymouth and back and raised £936.56 for the Dorset Youth Association.

The then 11-year-olds, who went to St Mary’s Middle School in Puddletown, took on their challenge after telling His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex about it at the Youth Association’s 70th anniversary celebrations at Moreton Gardens earlier in the year.

After sharing her proposed challenge with her class she was joined by pal Olivia, who like Tallulah is a member of the West Dorset Warriors swimming club.

If you want to do something, however big or small, to support us, we will support you!

Why we need to Fundraise

Expand

Dorset Youth Association is an independent charity and has recently celebrated its 70th Anniversary of supporting young people in Dorset.

Our aim is to improve the lives of children and young people in Dorset and as a charity we rely on fundraising to continue this important work.

Each year we need to raise approximately £100K to maintain our core services and this is becoming harder in the ever worsening financial climate.
